In Canada, the deals can be harder to come by than they are in the U.S. I felt a little discouraged at first but I kept looking for deals. One day, I noticed an ad for a American Express Small Business card. I clicked on it and found out it was for Canadians and the first year fee was waived!

Usually, the fact that it was for a small business would of turned me away but after reading a tip in Frequent Flyer Master, I put Matt Bailey Inc. as my business name and applied for the card. 8 days later, my card arrived and after some purchases I received 25,000 points. Three months after that, AmEx released another personal credit card with a bonus of 15,000 points which I also applied for and received. With 40,000 points, I was beginning to feel excited and more alert to deals in my area. I then noticed one for Rexall pharmacy that over time worked out to an additional 7,500 points. I now have over 50,000 points in the first 6 months of reading and I'm not putting that much work in at all!
